First connect red cable to the positive terminal of your C300’s dead battery, then to the positive terminal of donor battery. I have an early 1976 w123 240D Just purchased as a restoration. Ignition switch has steel wire (broken) which needs to be pulled to be able to remove key. I have sent away for pencil type glow plugs as the series old type not working. I have installed a solonoid while waiting and a ballast resistor to reduce to 9 volts.
