Early Game Money Method I would argue that the best method to make money in the early game would be tournaments, not only can you make money from bets, you can also win a prize that either upgrades your character ou that you can sell for extra profits.
People saying they make easy money this way are already good at attacking and blocking with swords. I have easy blocking on, too frustrating for me otherwise. If you go this way, keep a lot of good companions with you, they can also win the prize for the team. Early game:
Make polearms or 2h axes, with the biggest shaft you can find and the smallest head you can have. These (usually) get the biggest returns, because of minimal investment into material and very good profits. Also, smithing something like this usually gets 2-3 levels of smithing every time.
